The Valley of the Antics

The Antic Establishment (Man Make Music, Wormfood, Deviate and Rootatroupe) present The Valley of the Antics, a new addition to our ever-flowering and holistic garden.

The Antic Establishment "deals in the creation of cultural events that embrace modernity while being conscious of tradition, value community while respecting individual expression, and bring people together to celebrate the diverse possibilities of twenty-first century Britain.”

The Valley will keep you on your feet, singing, dancing and jamming day and night with high-quality live music, superb dance music, surreal large-scale games, performance poetry, storytelling, and after-hours performances. There will also be a selection of workshops and master classes, so go and get yourself lost in beats and melodies with the antics.

Highlights of the live music programme include rising reggae star Natty, UK beatbox champion Beardyman, awesome live hiphop from Bad Science and Lazy Habits, loop pedal craziness from UK Indy music winner Joe Driscoll, heavy live dub from Gentlemen's Dub Club and audacious party styles from Man Like Me. Not to mention 21st century mali-reggae garage from The Worm, ska/ calypso from Brothers Bab, psychedelic gypsy beats from Gypsydelica and Death Ray Trebuchey, folk from Mumford and Sons and Peggy Sue and the Pirates and rowdy baile funk from rising stars Crystal Fighters.

Man Make Music and Deviate will be proving that bass isn't just for the city as they inject their own low-end driven sense of fun in to proceedings…

We're proud to welcome DMZ & FWD resident DJ Chef - the nicest man in dubstep, East London insomniacs Husley & Gunz, bassline king L-Vis 1990 and dancehall pressure from Blaise Bellville. Top this off with original party starter J*Star, turntablism from the No Fakin DJs and of course MMM and Deviate's finest residents. The Valley will be offering quality dance music from across the spectrum to tickle those chest-plates, raise some smiles and get that mud-a-shuddering!"

And in THE ANTIC STUDY, holes will be filled, gaps will be bridged and pillars of cosmic unity shifted closer together with performance poetry (including a sign-up slam), acoustic performances from some of the UKs finest acts, workshops, artist masterclasses (somewhere between a performance and a chat) and late-night listening parties where you get to play tracks on CD and Ipod over cordless headphones and everyone vibes about it, then plays some more. Kind of like a Silent Disco Dinner Party.

The action will not stop when the amplified music does: after 2am the main stage will play host to a multitude of surreal large-scale team games organised by London mentalists Rootatroupe, accompanied by live drums and acoustic music and a Shamanic dance party on Saturday night where all the energetic fire-demons of the festivals will join for an old fashioned all-night party with masks and live African drumming. The Antic Study will continue to host acoustic music, poetry, workshops and listening parties to keep your head crackling with excitement until 6 in the morning.
